The Madison County Recycling Program consists of approximately 2600 homes, in 70 neighborhoods, and three schools. Our recycling truck collects the recyclables here and transports them to the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government (LFUCG) sorting facility where they are processed and marketed. LFUCG pays Madison County for the previous months goods. Records of the program are collected and kept on file in our office. For the calendar year 2016, we collected 417 tons, which is an outstanding amount, considering the program recently started in February of 2012. Madison County Fiscal Court offers this service free to the citizens who live outside the cities of Richmond and Berea and whose neighborhoods are participating in the program. To see if you neighborhood participates, please review the Recycle Schedule below.
Bins for the recycling of electronic items are located at 208 Clarksville Lane and sent to Winchester for recylcing. The recylcling company pays the County for these goods on a weight/item basis. On average, several tons are processed monthly. This service is offered free to the citizens of Madison County.
