Sirens & Radios will sound for Annual CSEPP Exercise
The Chemical Stockpile Emergency Preparedness Program (CSEPP) sirens located throughout Madison County will be sounded the morning of September 17th as part of the annual, federally-graded CSEPP Exercise and will serve as the regularly scheduled test of the siren and radio notification system.
Since the date of the Exercise coincides with the date of the scheduled siren test, the sirens will be activated in the morning rather than the usual time of 12:20 p.m. This morning activation will serve to signal the start of the CSEPP Exercise on September 17th.
The Advisor Alert Radios (AARs), or indoor warning system, will also be activated in the morning with the sirens.
Local residents can expect to hear the familiar Westminster Chimes test tones from the sirens and AARs, and should not be alarmed. The Madison County Emergency Management Agency and the Blue Grass Chemical Activity conduct exercises to ensure maximum safety to the community.
